9208 29103MUK 4 19/5/05 4:27 pm Page 3 Connect the speakers to main unit Digital clock and timer operation 1 Ensure the mains power is disconnected. 2 Connect the speaker wires between the main unit and the speakers. Match the speaker wire to the appropriate terminal on the components: (+) to (+) (colour), and (-) to (-) (black). (If the wires are reversed, the sound will be distorted and will lack some tones.) 3 Hold down the terminal tab to insert each wire.
9208 29103MUK 4 19/5/05 4:27 pm Page 4 2 Follow the same steps to adjust the minutes. 3 Press MODE again to move to the Timer Off mode; follow the same steps to set the hour and minutes. 4 Press MODE again to move to the timer source setting. Press the MEM/CLK ADJ and use the SKIP UP and SKIP DOWN to select CD/Tuner/DAB/Aux. 5 After all the settings are done, press MODE to exit setting mode. The unit will wake to the set mode at the set time (when in stand by mode).
9208 29103MUK 4 19/5/05 4:27 pm Page 5 Program playback MW/FM/RDS radio operation To program tracks: 1 Press MEMORY in CD stop mode. 2 Press SKIP/SEARCH or numeric buttons to select the memory location to store current track. 3 Press MEMORY again to save and move to next track. 4 After programming is finished, press PLAY/PAUSE to enter program playback. 5 Press stop twice to return to normal CD playback. • A total of 60 tracks can be programmed depending on how many tracks are on the CD.
9208 29103MUK 4 19/5/05 4:27 pm Page 6 DAB (digital audio broadcasting) DAB or Digital Audio Broadcasting represents a new age in broadcasting technology and as with all new technologies it is significantly different to traditional analogue FM/AM broadcast methods. The new system no longer relies on the user tuning to a given frequency but allows the DAB receiver to provide an active service list of all available radio programmes/stations at the touch of one button.

This option can only be viewed and is for information only, no adjustment is available. The lower the figure the better the quality of the received broadcast. Pressing MODE will provide a static display of the current time and date; this is decoded from the incoming broadcast signal and therefore does not ever need setting or adjusting. Other DAB functions Manual tune Selecting this option brings up the multiplex number and frequency in the display along with a signal strength meter and is useful in areas of poor reception. The multiplexes can be scrolled through using the SKIP/SEARCH buttons and are listed as follows: 5A 5B 5C 5D 12A 12B 12C 12D 13A 13B 13C 13D 13E 13F.
208 29103MUK 4 19/5/05 4:27 pm Page 9 Other functions Auxiliary input operation EQ button Any signal can be input through the auxiliary input jacks. 1 Press FUNCTION until ‘Aux’ appears in the LCD screen. 2 Insert the plugs of a commercially made audio cable into the AUX Input jacks (right and left), and the other into the line-out jack of the signal source (such as CD player, recorder, etc.). 3 Press PLAY on the signal source to start playback.
