PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Pegasus is a precision pointing device that can accurately position payloads weighing up to 25 lbs, with high repeatability in
both azimuth and elevation. Its exible architecture allows the operator to use it in a variety of missions and congurations.
Pegasus is an extension of the strong Moog positioning legacy combined with unique new features that give it the
performance edge needed for rapid deployments and covert operations. A proprietary drive mechanism provides unlimited
positioning in both coarse adjustment, which can be used for initial acquisition, and ne adjustment, a necessary feature
for continuous target tracking.
Pegasus was developed for a wide range of uses that require precision pointing of imaging, sighting, and targeting
payloads. A well thought out combination of composite and metal components provides a good balance for the
optimization of performance light weight materials.
In addition to the unlimited coarse and ne positioning adjustments, the drive mechanism locks the payload in place
without the need for additional action by the operator. This is a plus under any condition, but an absolute requirement for
time-sensitive operations where stress is at a high level. Pegasus also incorporates a quick release tabletop and a quick
disconnect connector to minimize the number of steps required to deploy the system.
Three congurations are available:
➊ Pegasus tripod with encoders and a non-magnetic CrossBow North Finder unit. The North Finding unit uses a MEMS
based sensor set that can nd the north vector and the horizon plane to within 4 mrad. This data is combined with
the encoder feedback and provided to the payload or other device. Positioning is relative to the true north and gravity.
➋ Pegasus tripod with encoders. Pegasus provides encoder feedback to the payload or other device relative to its base.
➌ Pegasus without encoders. Pegasus provides coarse and ne movement for applications that do not require encoder
positioning feedback.
