Always turn the surface burners to OFF
before removing cookwaJ'e.
Carefully watch foods being fried at a high
flame setting.
Foods for frying should be as dry as
possible. Frost on fl'ozen foods or n_oisture
on fl'esh fl_ods can cause hot fat to bubble
up and over the sides of the pail
Use the least possible amount of fat for
effective shallow or deep fat frying, Filling
the pan too full of fat can cause sl)illovers
when tood is added.
Use a deep fat thermometer whenever
possible to i)revent overheating tat bevond
the sn/oking point,
Never try to move a pml of hot fat, especially
a deep tat fl'yer. Wait until the tat is cool.
When using glass cookwaace, inake sure it
is designed tor toi>ot=range cooking.
If a combination of oils or fats will be used
in frying, stir together befln'e heating or
as tats melt slowly.
Do not leave may items on the cooktop.
The hot air fl'om the vent may ignite
flanlnlable itelns and will increase l)ressure
in closed containers, which inav cause theln
to burst.
Use proper pma size--avoid pans that are
unstable or easily tipped. Select cookware
having fiat bottoms large enough to l)rol)erly
contain tood and awfid boilovers and
sl)illovers and large enough to cover burner
grate. This will both save cleaning time and
l)revent hazardous aCCtli/ltllations of too(l,
since heavy spattering or spillovers left on the
range can ignite. Use pans with handles that
can be easily grasped and renmin cool.
Keep all plastics away from the top burners.
Do not leave plastic items on the cooktop--
thev may inelt if left too close to the vent.
To avoid the possibility of a burn, alwax:s be
certain that the controls fl)r all burners are at
the OFF position and all grates are cool
befl_re atteml)ting to remove them.
When flaming foods under the hood, turn
the fan on.
Grease is flammable. I,et hot grease cool
befl)re attenq)ting to handle it. Avoid letting
grease deposits collect in the grill or the
griddle drip trays. (_lean these areas after
each rise.
For proper lighting mad performance of the
cooktop burners, keep the burner ports
clean. It may be necessary to clean these
when there is a boilover or when the burner
does not light, even though the electronic
ignitors click.
After clemfing, it is important to make sure
the cap and burner port are properly aligned
with the burner base. Incorrect alignlnelat
will produce poor burner l)erlorn/ance.
Never operate the burner without all burner
parts in place.
Clean the cooktop with caution. Avoid steatn
burns; do not use a wet sponge or cloth
to clean the cooktop while it is hot. Solne
cleaners produce noxious flunes if applied
to a hot surthce. Follow iualmfi_cturer's
directions.
Do not use the grill for cooking excessively
fatty meats or products which promote
flare-up.
If rmlge is located near a window, do not
hang long curtains that could blow over the
surtace burners and create a fire hazard.
Be sure all the range mad/or cooktop
controls are turned off and the appliance is
cool befl_re using any type of aerosol cleaner
or cooking spray on or around the appliance.
The chemical that produces the sl)raying
action could, in the i)resence of heat, ignite
