Locking-Tang Reset:
Once the terminated wire is extracted, the locking tang will need to be repositioned in order to obtain retention in
the housing.
1. Insert the probe of the SL tool under the depressed locking tang as shown in Figure 2.
2. Gently pivot the SL tool towards the I.D. slots until the tang is bent up into original position and the scribe line
is parallel to the body of the terminal see Figure 3.
3. Pull out the SL tool and the terminal now can be re-inserted into the housing.
Terminal Extraction From Interim Or Panel Mount Clip:
Most of the interim clips have small slots either on the top or the bottom of the part
depending on the size of the clip. Smaller clips less then 12 circuits have the slots
on the bottom. (Figure 4 is oriented from the bottom.) If there are no slots for
extraction, then housings must be removed from clip.
To extract terminals:
1. Push the terminal forward in the interim clip or module and the housing or so
that the locking tang is clearly visible. Using the tab labeled āCā on the SL tool
insert into the slot on the back of the clip. Firmly depress the locking tang.
2. Pull the terminated wire out in the direction of the arrow. See Figure 4.
