Potential Health Effects (Acute and Chronic)

ACUTE EFFECTS:
Eyes: Contact can cause moderate to severe eye irritation and burns, resulting in irritation, discomfort or pain,
excess blinking and tear production, redness, and swelling of the conjunctiva.
Skin: Contact with skin may cause irritation. Repeated or prolonged contact can result in irritation, discomfort,
and redness of the skin.
Inhalation: Inhalation of mist from this product may cause irritation of the respiratory tract, experienced as nasal
discomfort and discharge, with chest pain and coughing.
Ingestion: Swallowing this material may be harmful. Effects may be nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal
discomfort. May cause blindness or be fatal if swallowed.
CHRONIC EFFECTS:
Repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis.
2-Butoxyethanol: In animals, effects have been reported on blood (hemolysis) and secondary effects on the
kidney and liver. Human red blood cells have been shown to be significantly less sensitive to hemolysis than
those of rodents and rabbits. In long term animal studies, small but statistically significant increases in tumors
were observed in mice but not rats. The effects are not believed to be relevant to humans.
