Ifyoufeeltheneedtocheckvoltageattherailsofyourmainlayoutortherailsofyour
programtrackyoushouldusea“DigitalMultimeter”availableatmostElectronic
SupplyStoresorHomeImprovementStores.Youcanpurchasedifferenttypesoftest
lightsmadeforDCCsystemsthroughsomeaftermarketretailers,butthesewillonly
indicatethatthere“is”or“isnot”voltageattherails,itwillnotgiveyouanumerical
valuefortroubleshooting.
OnTheMainTracks:
Withoutanylocosorlightedpassengercarsontherails.Thisisanoloadtest.[Anytype
ofaloadontherailslowersyourtrackvoltage,andyouwillnotgetacorrectreading].
Setthemetertothe“A.C.”scale,[youwillnotgetacorrectreadingontheD.C.scale].
Youshouldgetapproximatelyanywherefrom14to16.5voltsa.c.,[plusorminusavolt
ortwowouldbeinanacceptablerange].Thiswouldindicatethatyoursystemsoutputto
themaintrackrailsisatanacceptablelevelandingoodworkingorder.

NormallythereisNoPower ontheProgramTrackuntilyouentertheProgramming
Modeandinputdata.
WithyourmeterstillsettotheA.C.scale,andnolocoonthetrack,attachthetestleadsto
bothrailsoftheprogramtrack,[ifyourmetercameequippedwithalligatorclipsthisis
mostuseful].
EnterTheProgramMode
Pressthe“Program”buttononce.
Yourdisplaywillread“Pro9ProgTrack”,[Bytheway,the“9”in“Pro9”isthedisplays
wayofindicatinga“g”.thisisnormal”.
Pressthe“Enter”button.
Yourdisplaywillnowshow–“____ ProgTrack”withAdrunderthe4bars.
