● Disconnect all wires leading from the
generator to the control panel terminals and
short-circuit them, then measure the
insulation resistance between the wires and
the generator body.
(2) Generator field winding wire
Disconnect the wires leading to the rotary
rectifier, then measure the insulation resistance
between the disconnected wires and the shaft.
(Do not megger the diodes)
(3) Exciter armature winding wires
Disconnect the wires and short-circuit them,
then measure the insulation resistance
between these wires and the shaft.
(4) Exciter field winding wire
Disconnect the field connector (J,K) in the
control panel, and measure the resistance at
the connector on the generator side.
