It is equipped with a fuel filler tube especially designed to accept only a small diameter unleaded gasoline dispensing nozzle. WARNING Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive. You could be burned, seriously injured or killed when handling it. Whenever you refuel your vehicle, stop the engine and keep flames, sparks, and smoking materials away from the vehicle.
Fuel selection Methanol Do not operate your vehicle on gasoline containing methanol (wood alcohol). Using this type of alcohol could adversely affect the vehicle’s performance and damage critical parts of the vehicle’s fuel system. Reformulated gasoline Many areas of the country require the use of cleaner burning fuel referred to as “Reformulated Gasoline”. Reformulated gasoline contains oxygenates and is specially blended to reduce vehicle emissions and improve air quality.

Fuel economy Fuel economy 6 Driving, alcohol and drugs N00628800165 N00628900052 Fuel economy is dependent on many factors. Your personal driving habits can have a significant effect on your fuel use. Several recommendations for achieving the greatest fuel economy are listed below. Drunk driving is one of the most frequent causes of accidents. Your driving ability can be seriously impaired even with blood alcohol levels far below the legal minimum. If you have been drinking, don’t drive.
Vehicle preparation before driving Move the driver’s seat as far backward as possible, while still keeping good visibility, and good control of the steering wheel, brakes, accelerator, and controls. Check the instrument panel indicators and multi-information display for any possible problem. Move the front passenger seat as far back as possible. Make sure that infants and small children are properly restrained in accordance with all laws and regulations.
Safe driving techniques 6 Replace your tires before they are heavily worn out. As your vehicle is equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system, there is a risk of damage to the tire inflation pressure sensors when the tire is replaced on the rim. Tire replacement should, therefore, be performed only by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. Lights Have someone watch while you turn all the exterior lights on and off.
Braking Stay at low speeds at first so that the transaxle, transfer case and rear axle oil have time to spread to all the lubrication points. Manual transaxle can be harder to shift in cold weather conditions. This is normal and shifting will get easier as the transaxle warms up. Check the engine antifreeze. If there is not enough coolant because of a leak or from engine overheating, add Mitsubishi Motors Genuine Super Long Life Coolant Premium or equivalent.
Parking time to time, lightly depress the brake pedal and check how effective the brakes are. When driving downhill 6 It is important to take advantage of the engine braking by shifting to a lower gear while driving on steep downhill roads in order to prevent the brakes from overheating. Parking N00629600287 Parking on a hill When parking on a hill, set the parking brake, and turn the front wheels toward the curb on a downhill, or away from the curb on an uphill. If necessary, apply chocks to wheels.
Loading information Loading information N00629900349 It is very important to know how much weight your vehicle can carry. This weight is called the vehicle capacity weight and includes the weight of all occupants, cargo and non-factory-installed options. The tire and loading information placard located on the driver’s door sill of your vehicle will show how much weight it may properly carry. WARNING Never overload your vehicle.
Loading information 6 well as “the combined weight of occupants and cargo” (A), which is called the vehicle capacity weight. The weight of roof road is included in the definition of “cargo” when determining the vehicle capacity weight. This placard also tells you the size and recommended inflation pressure for the original equipment tires on your vehicle. For more information, refer to “Tires” on page 9-17. 4. The Type 2 Type 1 Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit N00630201235 1.
Loading information 6. If your vehicle will be towing a trailer, load from your trailer will be transferred to your vehicle. Consult this manual to determine how this reduces the available cargo and luggage load capacity of your vehicle. 6 NOTE The above steps for determining correct load limit were written in accordance with U.S.A. regulations. Your vehicle cannot tow a trailer, so step 6 is irrelevant.
Loading information NOTE The following table shows examples on how to calculate total cargo/load capacity of your vehicle with varying seating configurations and number and size of occupants. This table is for illustration purposes only and may not be accurate for the seating and load capacity of your vehicle. For the following example the combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 865 lbs (392 kg).
Cargo loads WARNING Cargo loads N00629700464 Cargo load precautions To determine the cargo load capacity for your vehicle, subtract the weight of all vehicle occupants from the vehicle capacity weight. For added information, if needed, refer to “Steps for Determining Correct Load Limit” on page 6-8.
Trailer towing Refitting the covers CAUTION 6 Before driving and after traveling a short distance, always check the load to make sure it is securely fastened to the roof carrier. Stop the vehicle periodically and check that the load remains secure. If the load is not secure, it could fall from the vehicle and damage your vehicle, another vehicle or create a road hazard. 1. With each cover, put the tabs (C) on the cover in the holes (D) in the roof. 2.
Trailer towing WARNING Do not use this vehicle for trailer towing. It may not be possible to maintain control or adequate braking.

Tires Tire inflation pressures N00939300844 Proper tire inflation pressure is essential for the safe and satisfactory operation of your vehicle. The wrong tire pressure will cause problems in three major areas: Safety Too little pressure increases flexing in the tire and can cause tire failure. Too much pressure can cause a tire to lose its ability to cushion shock. Objects on the road and potholes could then cause tire damage that may result in tire failure.
Tires Keep your tires inflated to the recommended pressures. (See the tire and loading information placard attached to the sill of the driver’s door.) Stay within the recommended load limits. Make sure that the weight of any load in your vehicle is evenly distributed. Drive at safe speeds. After filling your tires to the correct pressure, check them for damage and air leaks. Be sure to reinstall the caps on the valve stems.
Tires When the bands appear next to one another in two or more places, replace your tires. NOTE Tire wear indicators can have different marks and locations depending on the tire manufacturer. Tire rotation The first tire rotation is the most important one. It will allow all your tires to wear evenly.
Clutch pedal free play (if so equipped) Snow tires Tire chains N00940000359 In some areas of the country, snow tires are required for winter driving. If snow tires are required in your area, you must choose snow tires of the same size and type as the original tires provided with your vehicle. Snow tires should also be installed on all four wheels. Otherwise your safety and vehicle handling can be reduced.

General maintenance Fuel hoses NOTE To meet government regulations and promote cleaner air, your vehicle is equipped with an onboard diagnostic system (OBD). The engine electronic control module that controls OBD functions stores various data (especially about the exhaust emissions). This data will be erased if the battery cable is disconnected, which could make a rapid diagnosis difficult.
General maintenance there are other parts which do not usually need regular maintenance. But, if any of these parts stops working properly, your vehicle performance could suffer. Have these items checked if you notice a problem with them. See your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for assistance, if you have any questions. Disc brake pads, rear drum brake linings and rear wheel cylinders N00941600033 Good brakes are essential to safe driving.
