Whenever recording is begun from the STOP mode, an index
mark is automatically added to the tape. The index light ( T ) will
flash on the fluorescent display, and an on-s :reen message will
indicate that the mark is being recorded.
Index marks are not added wlhen you press PAUSE to begin
recording from the record-pause mode.

To add an index mark yourself, press the REC button on the
remote control while, a tape is, recording or playing.
Index marks must be added at least one minute apart. You
cannot add an index mark to a tape with its erasure tab removed.
When you add an index mark to a playing tape, the sound on the
mono track will turn off. To search for an index mark:
Press the INDEX SEARCH '%" button oa the remote control
to begin a forward search; press INDEX SEARCH "-" to begin
a search in the reverse direction. The VCR will fast forward or
rewind, and one of two screens will be d! splayed on the TV.
Once the VCR finds an index mark, it will begin playback
from that point.
You can press the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons up to 19 times
to search for that many index marks. Fcr example, to find the
third index mark ahead, ]press the plus t+) button three times.
The on-screen display will count down the number of' marks
to be pa£sed before playback begins.
@) To cancel index search, press PLAY or STOP.

Press the MENU button on the remote control. The "VCR
Main Menu" will appear on your screen
@) Use the ADJUST dial on the remote control to move the
cursor next to "Advanced Features." Tm'n the shuttle ring
right. ("Advanced Features" are not available if there is no
tape in the VCR, or if the VCR is record rag.)
O The "Advanced Features" menu will appear on your screen.
Turn the ADJU,_T'_ dial to move the cursor next to "Erase
index mark." Then, turn the shuttle r:mg right.
