This feature allows you to visually check the position of the tape
during fast forward or rewind.
O While the tape is in fast forward or rewind (without picture),
press and hold either the FF or REW button (whichever is the
same as what the tape is doing).
O After a short delay, you will see the contents of the videotape,
still in speed sea:rch. The picture will stay on the screen as
long as you hold down the button.
@) When you release the button, the tape will resume fast
forwarding or rewinding without a picm_:e.
Searchingbytime
You can use the time, counter to search to a _.pecific point on a
tape. You can search in one of two ways:
You can search to a certain point, measured from tlhe
beginning of the tape.
You can search to a certain point, measure from the
current position on the tape. (You canaot search further
than "9h59m59s" in eitlher direction.)
To search for a point measured from the beginning of the tape:
q[]) Press the MENU button on the remote control to display the
'%CR Main Menu."
Turn the ADJUST dial on the remote control to move the
cursor next. to S,_arch by-time." Turn the shuttle ring right.
If there is no tape loaded in the VCR, or if the VCR is recording,
then the words "Not available" will flash and you will see an error
message. Load a tape into the VCR or stop recording.
@) You will see the "Search by time" menu. Turn the ADJUST
dial to set the point on the tape (measured from the begin-
ning) to which you want to search, in hours and minutes.
Turn the ADJUST dial quickly to set th(! hour and minutes in
10-minute intervals. Turn it slowly to set single minutes. You
can also use the number buttons.
If you want to clear the time you have entered, press
CANCEL or turn the shuttle ring left.
If the elapsed time counter has been reset, the display you will
see will not match the one shown in step O. If this is the case,
eject the tape and remsert it. then repeat ,';t_ps _[])through 0.
