Using the closed caption decoder (cont.)
There are two types (modes) of captioning that broadcasters can
send:
Captions: standard captioning which is related to the program
that is being shown. Standard captioning usually follows the dialog
of the characters on-screen and only display,; when the broadcaster
is sending the closed captioning.
Text: text captioning can contain information such as weather or
news that is not related to the program that is being shown. Text
captioning blocks out your view of the program you are watching.
Your TV can decode two different types of sil,mals, or data channels,
for each type of captions (Captions CH 1 or CH 2 or Te_:t CH 1 or
CH 2). However, each station may be broad:asting only one signal,
or none at all.
adjusting the closed caption decoder
You can turn on or offthe closed caption decoder by using the menu
feature called "Closed Caption."
