Selecting the sound
You can select the sound and the speakers you will hear by using
the menu feature called "Audio Select." The audio selectio_ will be
displayed over the picture each time you select a new channel or
use the display button.
your audio selections are:
MTS: (multi-channel television sound)
STEREO
This setting allows you to receive stereo broadcasts auto-
matically if the TV broadcaster is sending stereo sound. If
the TV broadcaster is not sending stereo sound, the TV will
automatically select the mono sound.
SAP (separate audio program)
This setting allows you to hear a different sound if the TV
broadcaster is sending a secondary form of sound. Examples
of the use of SAP are a foreign language sound track of the
main program or news or weather reports from a local radio
station. If the TV broadcaster is not sending SAP sound, the
TV will automatically select the mono _;ound.
MONO
This setting allows you to listen only to the mono sound sent
by the TV broadcaster even if the broadcaster is also sending
stereo or SAP sound. Use this setting _hen there is; un-
wanted background noise from a weak station.
SPEAKER:
ON
You will hear the sound through the TY's built-in speakers.
OFF
When you have connected your TV to an audio system and
wish to hear the sound through the ,;peakers of the audio
system.
Important: To avoid a volume mis-match between the T_i's built-in speakers
and the speakers of your audio system, you should turn offthe TV's
speakers when listening to the sound througi_ your audio system.
