INSPECTION
1. MAIN BEARINGS
Caution
1. Be sure not to use the main bearings 16 and 25
expanded forcedly.
2. When either the main bearing 16 or 25 is defective,
replace them in pairs.
(1) Free Span
If the reading for either main bearing shell

exceeds
the specified service limit, replace them in pairs.
Limit: Less than 73.16 mm
(2) Main Bearing-to-Crankshaft Clearance
1) Fit the upper main bearing shells

and lower main
bearing shells
16
into the upper crankcase

and
lower crankcase

respectively, then tighten main
cap bolts

to a torque of 20 ± 2 Nm.
2) Measure t he I.D. of the main bearings

the journal O.D. at

. If the
measurements exceed the specified limits, replace
the defective part(s).
Standard value:
No. 1, 2, 4, 5 journal 0.04 - 0.06 mm
No. 3 journal 0.06 - 0.08 mm
Limit: 0.1 mm
2. CRANKSHAFT
(1) Out-of-Roundness and Conicity of Crankshaft Journal
and Pin
If the measured value exceeds the limit, replace the
crankshaft
