Piston and Connecting Rod

(4) Using the special tool, install the piston an d connecting
rod assembly in position, with the front mark
“

on
the piston crown facing toward the engine front

(5) Press the piston down. Apply a thin coat of engine oil
to the threaded part of the connecting rod bolt, then install
the connecting rod cap

while aligning the lugs

of
the upper connecting rod bearing shell

and lower
connecting rod bearing shell

.
(6) Tighten the nuts
1
alternately in the following manner.
1) Tighten the nut
1
to a torque of 29 ± 3 Nm.
2) Tighten further to a torque of 49 ± 5 Nm.
3) Give a 45_ ± 5_ turn.
4) Give another 45 _ ± 5_ turn to complete the tightening.
Caution
The nut is tightened to a point where the bolt is
plastically deformed. Do not tighten it any more than
the final turn.
(7) After the connecting rod cap
3
is secured, check the
following.
1) Connecting rod end play
2) Piston protrusion
