Common drain piping
Where a common drain is to be provided for several units,
ensure that discharge water from one unit is prevented
from entering another unit. The common drain must be
installed below the pumped drain lift of all units.
The common drain piping should be larger diameter,
minimum 28mm i.d.
Drain testing
For units with condensate pumps fitted, the electrical
supply will need to be connected, and the unit switched
on in cooling mode. Supply approximately 1000cc of clean
water, using a water feed pump, into the drain tray,
through one of the air discharge outlets (with fascia panel
removed).
Check all joints for leakage, and check sound of lift pump
operating (where fitted). If residual water is required to
be removed, this can be done by removing the drain plug.
For units without a condensate lift pump, the drain piping
must be tested in a similar way to the above.
