Group control
The RCD can be used as a Group Control for up to 16 units.
The RCD will determine the fan speed, heat / cool / auto
mode, and temperature selection for all units together.
The units will then operate in the same mode, with each
individual temperature sensor independently operating
the heating or cooling of each system.
The indoor unit PCB has an address dial, which must be
adjusted to a group address number for each unit in the
group, i.e. 0,1,2,3, etc. The address setting also provides
a time delay for sequential compressor starts.
Group control wiring
The units in the same Group have control board terminals
X,Y,Z connected in parallel by 3-core screened wiring.
One single controller, or two controllers (master/slave)
are connected to the X,Y,Z wiring.
Compressor delay timer
The address setting of each individual unit within the
group also has the function of providing a delay of 1
second between compressor starts. This is to prevent a
large power surge, which would result from all compressors
starting together.
The delay timer function is set into 8 sequential starts,
with pairs of units starting together.
