System Resources with DEI
Installing up to four DEI units to a Mitel platform increases the number of resources available for
each of three DEM-16s. Table 4-6 summarizes the number of resources available with the main
chassis and with each DEM-16.
Table 4-7 summarizes the resources available for three possible system configurations.
Cabling for Digital Capability
A 15 ft 25-pair cable is available for connecting DEM-16 ports to the main distribution frame
(MDF). The cable, part number 813.1814, is terminated on one end with four 8-pin, 8-conductor
plugs wired to RJ-45 specifications using the 568B standard. The other end of the cable is
terminated with a male Amphenol connector. The cable is designed for quick connection of
digital endpoints that have been terminated on a female Amphenol-type connector at the MDF.

Digital Endpoints
The following digital endpoints can be installed on DEI equipment attached to the Mitel platform:
Models 8500, 8520, and 8560
Basic, Standard, Executive, and Associate models
Single-Line Adapter
Modem Data Port Module (MDPM)
Personal Computer Data Port Module (PCDPM): Audio only. System software does not
support serial communication.
