Four-Port Loop Start Module
The four-port loop start module (LSM-4) supports four CO [local exchange] trunks. The LSM-4
functions the same as the LSM-2. For complete installation instructions, see “Installing a Four-
Port Loop Start Module (LSM-4)” on page 5-47. For programming refer to Inter-Tel 5000
Features and Programming Guide, part no. 580.8006.
Basic Rate Module
The Basic Rate Module (BRM-S) provides Basic Rate S/T interface ISDN service for
communication and is available only in the European market. Each of the two BRI ports consists
of two bearer (B) channels and one data (D) channel with High-level Data Link Control (HDLC)
support. Each BRM-S module in the chassis supports a total of four BRI trunks.
The ports provide full I.430 ITU S/T ISDN support for trunks (TE mode), but does not support
stations (NT) mode. The BRM-S does not support video conferencing or BRI devices and
endpoints.
Four-Port Single Line Module Characteristics
Only one SLM-4 can be installed in an Inter-Tel 5000 Base Server.
The Single Line (SL) application installs as a part of the Mitel 5000 Version–Release suite of
software packages, along with other application packages that support SLM-4 functionality,
such as DB Programming, Call Processing, etc.
The SLM-4:
• Is hot-swappable.
• Is designed to be inserted into one of the three bays on the back side of the Inter-Tel 5000
Base Server. The form factor used for the SLM-4 is the same as used for the T1M or T1M-
2, LSM-2, LSM-4, and BRM-S modules.
• Supports two green status LEDs. One shows ONLINE status, and the other shows the
ready to REMOVE status. The SLM-4 provides two RJ-14 jacks, each wired to USOC
T568A specifications. Together, the two jacks support four single line analog endpoints.
• Does not require software feature licensing.
• Does not operate on a v1.x system. If you plug an SLM-4 into a v1.x system, a warning
message appears and Message Print indicates the board will not come online.
• Does not support dial pulse dialing.
• Does not respond to the Auto Equip feature—SLM-4 modules must be programmed
manually in DB Programming. For instructions, refer to the Inter-Tel 5000 Features and
Programming Guide, part no. 580.8006.
IMPORTANT
Basic Rate Interface (BRI) capability is supported only in Mitel Europe
installations.
