Base Server
The Inter-Tel 5000 Base Server houses the system processor module (PM-1) and the
Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1) for a CS-5400, the motherboard, and power supply.
Chassis Description
Table 4-2 summarizes the physical dimensions of Inter-Tel 5000 Base Server chassis.
The front of the chassis presents a two-row liquid crystal display (LCD) panel and a five-button
command-and-control interface for interacting with the system. The front of the chassis also
provides two Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports, a USB socket for a software license security
key, a bay that holds a compact flash-type memory card, and a recessed ejection button for
extracting the card.
In addition to the PM-1 bay, the back of the chassis offers three bays that accept slide-in trunk
modules and the following six connection interfaces:
The system power cord socket
A 1/8th-inch jack for attaching an audio source to supply system Music-On-Hold and/or
Background Music
An RCA-type phono jack for attaching an external paging unit
A 6-pin socket for connecting two loop start trunks
A 6-pin socket for connecting two single line endpoints.
Together, the loop start and single line circuits also provide the system’s power fail bypass
feature.
A DB-15 connector for attaching peripheral equipment
The Inter-Tel 5000 Base Server supports the following trunk circuit modules:
o Loop Start Module, 2-port (LSM-2)—Supported but no longer in production.
o Loop Start Module, 4-port (LSM-4)
o T1/E1/PRI Module, 1- port (T1M)
o Dual T1/E1/PRI Module, 2- port (T1M-2)
o Basic Rate Interface Module, 2-port (BRM-S) [European market only]
