Computer Telephony Integration (CTI)
This section discusses computer telephony integration using the Open Architecture Interface
(OAI).
Audio and Web Conferencing
Audio and Web Conferencing runs on a standalone server to provide multiparty audio
conferences. It utilizes ITP, OAI, and RTP, to communicate with the Mitel CS-5200/5400/5600
as multiple Proprietary Protocol IP endpoints.
System Manager
System Manager is a server-based application that centralizes management functions for the
Mitel CS-5200/5400/5600 system along with various peripheral components, such as Unified
Communicator
®
, SIP Server, etc. For complete functionality, System Manager requires
significant connectivity to and from the managed devices. These requirements are outside the
scope of this appendix. They are described in the System Manager Installation and
Maintenance Manual, part number 835.2743.
Topology Requirements
With regard to network topology discussed in this appendix, keep the following requirements in
mind:
• There is only one network interface for each Mitel CS-5200/5400/5600 system.
• Private Networking cannot operate through a NAT device.
• The communication between SIP endpoints and a SIP server must not pass through near-
end NAT, unless it is performed by a SIP-aware firewall. The same requirement exists for a
firewall performing far-end NAT.
• The communication between the Mitel CS-5200/5400/5600 system, SIP Server, and IWAC
server must not pass through NAT.
