IP Networking
Refer to the Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide (part no: 580.8006) for information
discussed in this section.
The Mitel CS-5200/5400/5600 system can also provide networking using an IP network. You
can also configure IP networking using the Networking Wizard. The section here describes
each portion of the networking in DB Programming. Installation recommendations include the
following:
Each node must have at least one central office trunk. Emergency calls should be
programmed to use the local trunk.
If an external voice processing system is shared by multiple nodes, all of the nodes should
have access to the node where the external voice processing system is located, with a
minimum number of hops through other nodes. This will have significant impact on the
network layout.
The network does not allow one node to use the resources from another node (DSP resources,
etc.) with the exception of external page ports and message print output.
IP Networking Planning sheets are included at the end of this section for your convenience.
IP Networking Programming Example
This section provides an example of how to set up a network based on the information provided
in the following tables.
