Licensing and Mitel CS-5600 Upgrades
The existing Mitel 5000 licensing plan does not change with the product going from v1.2 to v2.x.
However, to use v2.x features, customers must purchase a new software license or an upgrade
license.
The following three scenarios cover hardware and licensing changes associated with upgrading
to a Mitel CS-5600 system running v2.0 or later:
Software Upgrade: A customer owns or leases a Mitel CS-5200 or CS-5400 system,
which implies the system is running on an Mitel 5000 1.x license. Any customers
upgrading to v3.0 must purchase a v2.x to v3.0 license, part number 840.0816. In this
scenario, the customer also needs to purchase a new license for the CS-5200/CS-5400
system, part number 840.6022.
System Upgrade: A customer owns or leases a Mitel CS-5200 or CS-5400 system and
plans on upgrading to a Mitel CS-5600. The customer must purchase the following items
to complete the upgrade:
o 1 – Mitel CS-5600 Processing Server (PS-1) chassis, part number 580.5600.
o If upgrading from a Mitel CS-5200 system, a Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1), part
number 580.2020, must be installed on the Processor Module (PM-1), part number
580.2200, to create a Mitel CS-5400, or Mitel CS-5600 Base Server. For complete
instructions, see “Upgrading System Software to Version 3.0” on page 5-148.
o If upgrading from a Mitel CS-5400 system, a new security key is not necessary—
simply move the existing security key from the Mitel CS-5400 system to the PS-1.
o A v1.x to v2.0 license, part number 840.0623, for the PS-1 and the same Mitel serial
number as the in-place Mitel CS-5400 system.
o A v2.x to v3.0 license, part number 840.0816, for the CS-5600 system type and the
same Mitel serial number as the in-place Mitel CS-5400 system.
New Purchase: A customer purchases a new Mitel CS-5200, CS-5400 or CS-5600. The
customer purchases the v3.0 license, part number 840.0815. If acquiring a Mitel CS-5600,
the customer must purchase the Base Server and PS-1 hardware, a single USB security
key for the PS-1, and the Mitel CS-5600 CPU license. For applicable part numbers, see
Table 7-5 on page 7-4.
Model 8602 IP Softphone
One license is required for each Mitel Model 8602 IP softphone. Each concurrent Model 8602
requires a license.
An Enable IP Endpoint license may be required for some configurations that enable digital
capability. For details, contact your authorized Mitel service provider. For licensing part
numbers, see Table 7-7 on page 7-5.
Basic Voice Mail
Each Basic Voice Mail port is licensed, including the first four. Four BVM port licenses are
included. Additional 4-port licenses must be purchased in order to use additional BVM ports.
