Digital Expansion Interface
Bay designations appear in the Communication Server folder, displaying which modules are
installed in the specific bay locations for the main chassis and DEI(s).

DEI License Requirement
A software license is required for each DEI unit. If a DEI unit is unlicensed, a red X appears
over the DEI unit icon in the Communication Server view, as shown below.

You can still program the DEI chassis, even if they are unlicensed, but any attached endpoints
will not come online. For information about uploading a software license see “Software License
Upload” on page 6-60.
