Processor Module
The Processor Module provides IP resource functionality through the IP resource application.
Refer to the Mitel 5000 Features and Programming Guide, part number 580.8006, for
information on programming IP Settings. For more information about IP Resources, refer to the
Specifications and Product Description chapters.
The processor module is equipped with a 100-Base T Ethernet port that allows you to connect
the system to the LAN.
Before you program the IP port, consult the on-site network administrator for information on any
standard practices that are followed, including the use of special characters in hostnames.
Providing a static IP address and a hostname is generally considered the “best” practice.
To program the port, do one of the following based on the system type you have:
• CS-5200: See “Internet Protocol Resources” on page 6-139.
• CS-5400 and CS-5600: The Processor Expansion Card also uses an IP address to
communicate with the Processor Module. The IP address for the Processor Expansion
Card must be on the same network and subnet mask as the IP address set for the
Processor Module described above. See page 6-140 for information on setting Processor
Expansion Card settings.
Processor Expansion Card
The Processor Module provides additional IP resources beyond that of a basic system. For
programming information, refer to the Mitel 5000 Features and Programming Guide, part
number 580.8006. For more information about the Processor Module, refer to the Specifications
and Product Description chapters.
Loop Start Ports and Single Line Ports
The system provides two loop start ports and two single line ports (the port addresses are
11.1.1 and 11.2.1). These ports can be configured for the Power Fail Bypass feature. This
feature allows up to two single line endpoints to be able to make calls after a total system
shutdown due to power loss. These ports are also preconfigured in DB Programming but can be
changed. For information about how Loop Start and Single Line Ports are cabled, refer to the
Installation chapter.
NOTE The IP Port does not support Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
NOTICE
Mitel CS-5400 systems have two IP addresses. One IP address is for the Processor
Module and one IP address is for the Processor Expansion Card. Both IP addresses
MUST be on the same subnet mask. This also applies to CS-5200 systems that have
been upgraded with the Processor Expansion Card. Also, provide a static IP address
for the processor module. The Processor Expansion Card must have a static IP
address.
