Inter-Tel CS-5200/5400/5600 Base Server
The Inter-Tel CS-5200/5400/5600 Base Server is the foundation of the Mitel 5000 Network
Communications Solutions family of products. This section summarizes the technology of the
base server and identifies system interfaces to network and customer environments.
Base Server Technology
Built on 32-bit architecture and packaged in a 1U chassis, the Inter-Tel CS-5200/5400/5600
Base Server provides a robust IP communication solution. With appropriate licensing, the Mitel
5000 delivers communication assets that include the following services and features:
Linux
®
operating system.
Loop start, T1, T1/Primary Rate Interface (PRI), E1/PRI, Basic Rate Interface [European
market only], and IP gateway (MCGP and SIP) trunk connectivity.
Messaging, including Basic Voice Mail and Unified Messaging.
Networking over IP.
Networking over T1/E1 spans.
Fax over IP (FoIP)T.38—Mitel 5000 to Mitel 5000 nodes only.
Compact flash-type memory card for storing system applications, customer database, and
voice mail messages.
USB flash drive for backing up voice mail.
Support for IP, SIP, Multi-Protocol, Wireless IP, Multimedia Touch Screen, Inter-Tel digital,
and analog single line endpoints.
Programmable Call Processing features for enhanced business productivity.
Directory Look-Up.
Hunt Groups.
Automatic and Uniform Call Distribution.
Open Architecture Interface (OAI).
Multilingual Support.
Music-On-Hold.
Paging.
Power Fail Bypass circuitry.
Wide Area Network (WAN) Fail Survivability.
Basic Voice Mail service is provided with the system, and additional voice mail capacity is
available by installing either the optional Voice Processing Unit or an Enterprise Messaging
system. For details, refer to the Inter-Tel 5000 Features and Programming Guide (part no.
580.8006).
Digital signal processor (DSP) technology enables Conferencing, Dual Tone Multi-Frequency
(DTMF) detection, tone generation, modem operation, and Automatic Number Identification
(ANI), or Caller ID.
Either platform can operate as a stand-alone system or as a node in a network of up to 99 Inter-
Tel Axxess or Mitel 5000 nodes. For network connectivity, Inter-Tel Axxess
®
Converged
Communications Platforms require software v7.0 or later for T1 point-to-point protocol (PPP)
networking. IP networking requires v8.231 or later system software, IP Resources Application
(IPRA) firmware v9.0.0 or later, and applicable licensing.
