5000 Installation Manual – Issue 3.0, October 2008 Page 6-43
To Empty Device Location
Any installed Mitel 5000 device can be dragged and dropped into an empty device location in
the Mitel 5000 platform, provided that the type of device is supported in the chosen location.
When a device is dragged and dropped into an empty device location, the device is moved to
the new location and associated with the new module. The original device location is set to
“None.”
Only a single device can be dropped in a specific device location. When a group of devices is
being dragged, the devices must be dropped onto a module, port, or folder.
To Populated Device Location
Any installed Mitel 5000 device can be dragged and dropped onto another installed device in
the Mitel 5000 platform, provided that the dragged device is supported in the drop location and
the device in the drop location is also supported in the dragged-from location.
When a device is dragged/dropped onto another installed device, the devices are swapped.
To IP Devices
Any installed Mitel 5000 endpoint (or pair of endpoints) can be dragged and dropped onto IP
Devices, provided there is room for the endpoint (or pair). If the IP device limit would be
exceeded, the drop onto IP Devices is not permitted. Multiple selection can be used in this
case, but endpoints must reside under the same module or folder to be selected as a group.
For each dragged endpoint, the endpoint is converted to IP and removed from the dragged-from
module. When multiple selection is used, only endpoints (and pairs of endpoints) are moved,
and if there is not room for all of the endpoints, one or more may be left behind.
Database Conversion Log File
As part of the procedure to convert a database (page 6-45), you have the option to save and/or
view the log file. When viewing the log file, it opens in Notepad. After it is saved, the file can be
opened in any text editor. An example is shown on the next page. The only opportunity you
have to save the log file is during the conversion process. Save to the proposed location for the
database conversion.
