Drag and Drop Operations: Inter-Tel Axxess Devices

To an Empty Device Location
Only a single device can be dropped in a specific device location. When a group of devices is
being dragged, the devices must be dropped onto a module, port, or folder.
Any Inter-Tel Axxess device displayed under a card in the Inter-Tel Axxess view can be dragged
and dropped onto a device location in the Mitel 5000 view. However, there must be an empty
location and the device must be supported on the module. See Table 6-15, “DB Converter
Supported Devices/Device Conversion,” on page 6-28.
When the operation is completed, the device is removed from the Inter-Tel Axxess view and
stored in the Mitel 5000 platform in the selected location. The device type name is automatically
modified to the Mitel 5000 style (for example, “Keyset” is changed to “Endpoint”).
To IP Devices in Mitel 5000 View
Any endpoint, pair of endpoints or IP device shown under a card or in the Unused IP Devices
folder in the Inter-Tel Axxess view can be dragged and dropped onto the IP Devices folder in
the Mitel 5000 view. However, you cannot exceed the IP device limit. Multiple selection can be
used, but endpoints must reside under the same card of folder to be selected as a group.
For each dragged IP device, the device is simply transferred over. Other types of endpoints are
converted to IP. When multiple selection is used, only endpoints and IP devices are moved, and
if there is not room for all of the devices, one or more may be left behind, and a message
appears. When an Inter-Tel Axxess device is converted to an IP device, the following rules
apply. See Table 6-15, “DB Converter Supported Devices/Device Conversion,” on page 6-28
regarding converting devices to IP.
After an endpoint is converted to IP, it cannot be converted back to the original type. IP
devices in the Mitel 5000 view cannot be moved.
If an endpoint being moved has an associated DSS, the DSS will be left behind. When this
happens, a message appears and you can opt not to convert the endpoint.
If an endpoint being moved is a keyset/MDPM or keyset/DPM, the MDPM or DPM is
removed, and the associated keyset is converted to an IP endpoint. MDPMs or DPMs are
not required if you have an IP connection. When this happens, a message appears and
you can opt not to convert the endpoint.
All keysets are converted to IP endpoints. If an IP softphone is desired, you need to
change the IP endpoint to an IP softphone using a right-click operation on the IP endpoint.
All Single Line devices are converted to IP Single-Line Adapters.
If an item being moved is a “dual” item (e.g., dual keyset, dual single lines), there must be
room for two more IP devices in the Mitel 5000 platform, or the pair will not be moved. If
there is room, two IP Endpoints or two IP Single-Line Adapters will be created.
Conversion of trunk devices from a Digital Keyset Card to IP in the Mitel 5000 is not
supported.
