Database Conversion Process
Messages that may appear are similar to prior versions of the DB Converter utility. The
database conversion process consists of three main parts:
Inter-Tel Axxess Card and Device Removal
Mitel 5000 Module and Device Conversion
Additional Changes
See page 6-45 for the procedure to convert an Inter-Tel Axxess database to a Mitel 5000
database.
Inter-Tel Axxess Card and Devices
Unsupported and unused cards and devices are not moved to the Mitel 5000 database. This
includes only physical devices of the types shown in the Data Migration form. Any logical
devices (Phantoms, Hunt Groups, etc.) are preserved.
For all cards that are not converted to a Mitel 5000 module, all references to the card are
removed from the Mitel 5000 databaseas they would be if you uninstalled the card using DB
Programming.
Similarly for all devices that are removed, the device is deleted from the Mitel 5000 database
just as it would be if you deleted it using DB Programming. That is, associated mailboxes are
unassociated, corresponding extension IDs are removed, and the devices are removed from
any Hunt Groups, Extension Lists, DSS BLF keys, etc. in the Mitel 5000 database.
Mitel 5000 Module and Device Conversion
All cards copied from the Inter-Tel Axxess database into Mitel 5000 modules are converted and
any Mitel 5000 modules needed are created. After each module is converted or created, all
ports and devices to be associated with the module are converted.
For devices converted to IP, certain fields are defaulted, and the devices are unassociated from
any physical location in the database.
Regarding devices that can be converted from analog to digital and vice versa (e.g., Loop Start
and Ground Start Trunks), this is transparent in the database. No changes are needed.
IMPORTANT
Throughout the conversion process, the original Inter-Tel Axxess database is
not changed in any way either before, during, nor after the conversion.
