Database Converter Utility
The DB Converter utility allows you to upgrade database parameters from an existing version to
a later version of software. Downgrading system types is not supported. You can also convert
an Axxess v5.3 or later database to the latest Mitel database.
With v2.4 databases:
• The DB Converter updates the keymap-related programming of databases during
conversion to v2.4. The conversion includes the following updates:
o The ID numbers of existing keymaps are incremented by 1 (for example, Keymap #3 in
v2.3 becomes Keymap #4 in v2.4). This is because the new Default Keymap becomes
Keymap #1 behind the scenes.
o Additional programmable keys, 36–45, have been added to all endpoints and keymaps
programmed in the database.
o The Default keymap has been added to the databases. No existing endpoints
reference this keymap, but any new endpoints programmed for v2.4 are automatically
assigned to the Default Keymap.
• The DB Converter also performs IP Settings checks. If a database has static subnet
masks or gateways programmed that are not the same for the Processor Module,
Expansion Card, and Processing Server (checks fields accordingly based on system
type), the converter copies the subnet mask and gateway from the Processor Module to
the Expansion Card (for a 5400 or 5600 system) and the Processing Server (for a 5600
system). That way, they will all be on the same subnet/gateway. This conversion is also
performed for the SSH port and enable, Web Server listening port and enable, listening
port, and the DHCP flag of the Processing Server. If they do not match the Processor
Module's fields and the system is a 5600 system, the converter copies the value for each
field from the Processor Module to the Processing Server.
With v2.3 databases:
• The T1 module, T1/PRI module, and E1/PRI module are displayed as the T1/E1/PRI
module with a port configured for T1, T1/PRI and E1/PRI, respectively. The DB converter
will make the necessary translation in the database from the individual modules to the one
module with individual port configurations.
• All devices are associated with echo profiles, and the devices in an older database will be
assigned an echo profile according to their type of conversion. Refer to the Mitel 5000
Features and Programming Guide, part number 580.8006, for defaults based on device
type.
• The following list summarizes the changes made to DB Converter for the v2.3 release:
o When you right-click Bay 1-3, the list of module types you can create includes Dual T1/
E1/PRI and T1/E1/PRI. This changed from the former options: T1, T1/PRI and E1/PRI
Module respectively.
o When you move an Axxess T1, T1/PRI, or E1/PRI card onto an unpopulated bay 1-3, it
automatically creates a T1/E1/PRI module and puts the moved card into the port.
o You can also move an Axxess T1, T1/PRI, or T1/PRI card onto a port of a T1/E1/PRI
or Dual T1/E1/PRI module.
o You can change a T1/E1/PRI to a Dual T1/E1/PRI at any time, using the right-click
menu.
o You can change a Dual T1/E1/PRI to T1/E1/PRI using a right-click menu ONLY when
port 2 shows “None.”
o You can populate a “None” port on these modules using a right-click menu.
o You can depopulate a port using a right-click menu only when there are no populated
circuits on the port.
