Programming Software
All software needed to run the system is pre-installed on the compact flash-type memory card
that came with the system. However, this section is included in the event the software needs to
be installed from the CD-ROM.
The following instructions assume that Windows software is installed on the PC and the user is
familiar with Windows procedures. Also, there should be enough space on the hard drive(s)
where the common files are located, where the files for the specific version will be installed, and
where the operating system is located so the installation program can write temporary files and
install files on the system directory. To install DB Programming, you must have local
administrative rights.
If upgrading from a previous release, see “Upgrading a System” on page 5-142.
To install DB Programming software, see “Install DB Programming” on page 5-156.
Stand-Alone Local Programming
To use a PC for stand-alone programming, the proper version of DB Programming must be
loaded on a PC that has an IP connection to the Mitel CS-5200/5400/5600 Base Server. The
system database can then be saved to the programming PC and/or any storage devices
available on that PC. If saving the voice mail database or Basic Voice Mail, then a USB 2.x-
compatible flash drive must be inserted in the USB-A port on the front of the Base Server.
Onsite or Remote Programming Over IP
If you know the system IP address, you can access the system database over the network
through an IP connection. Since the system initially uses DHCP to establish an IP address, you
need to access the LCD panel on the front of the unit to find out what the IP address is, before
you can access the system from a remote location. For more information about finding the IP
address from the LCD panel, refer to the Installation chapter. When you know the system IP
address, you can then provide a static (recommended) IP address in DB Programming. The
system is then available for programming over an IP connection.
Remote Programming Using a Modem
Refer to the Mitel 5000 Features and Programming Guide, part number 580.8006, for
information.
