5000 Database
(DB) Programming application and the tasks for programming the system prior to programming
many of the system features. Topics are grouped into the following categories:
Initial Database (DB) Programming Tasks: Steps through the initial DB Programming
setup and configuration, focusing on programming areas that are used repeatedly in DB
Programming. In particular, this group of programming tasks includes system-wide
settings, database utilities, the Session Manager interface, system license management,
and system downgrades. Details begin on page 6-4.
Wizard Interfaces: Covers three structured and software-controlled processes to facilitate
accurate and complete programming of system configuration, private networking, and
troubleshooting the connection of servers for an Mitel CS-5600 system installation. Details
begin on page 6-68.
System Directory Folders and Tasks: Surveys in detail the folders residing in the
System directory folders of DB Programming. Details begin on page 6-106.
Digital Expansion Interface (DEI) Unit Programming Tasks: Covers selected
programming tasks related to the DEI unit. Details begin on page 6-143.
INITIAL DB PROGRAMMING TASKS
This section provides information and procedures to support the overall programming of an
Inter-Tel 5000 advanced communications platform. You can also find all documentation on the
Mitel edGe Online Manuals and Guides Web site
(www.inter-tel.com/techpublications).
Introduction
This section explains how to program a Mitel 5000 system. The system is functional upon
installation and requires programming only to make changes to meet the customer’s special
needs. This chapter assumes that system hardware has been installed, endpoints are installed,
and all system and endpoint cabling is complete and connected.
Configuration Wizard
The Configuration Wizard is one of several wizards designed to get the system operational
quickly. Mitel recommends running the Configuration Wizard before setting or tweaking other
system parameters or configuring other system features. For programming details, see “The
Configuration Wizard” on page 6-68.
Networking Wizard
The Networking Wizard is one of several wizards designed to get the system operational
quickly. For programming details, refer to the Mitel 5000 Features and Programming Guide, part
number 580.8006.
NOTE
Programmers must have received Mitel 5000 Basic certification as well as CTP
certification to receive technical support.
