Connecting to Model 8520 or 8560 Endpoints
To connect PCDPM cable:
1. Install the PC Data Port Module for a Model 8520 or 8560 endpoint. For installation
diagrams, see Figure 5-84 on page 5-219 and Figure 5-85 on page 5-219.
2. Do either of the following:
If a DSS/BLF Unit will be attached to the PC Data Port Module, attach one end of a
PCDPM-to-DSS interface cable to the 10-pin (J2) connector on the module, as
shown in Figure 5-84 on page 5-219. The other end of the cable will later be
attached to the DSS/BLF Unit after it is installed.
If a Modem Data Port Module will be attached to the PC Data Port Module, plug the
appropriate end of the PCDPM-to-MDPM interface cable into the 14-pin (J1)
MDPM connector on the PCDPM. The other end of the cable will later be attached
to the MDPM after it is installed.
3. Carefully thread the cables connected to the PCDPM through the slots on the access
panel. Re-attach the access panel to the endpoint.
4. Secure the access panel to the PCDPM and the endpoint using the mounting screw
supplied in the PCDPM kit.
5. Do either of the following:
If a Modem Data Port Module will be attached to the PCDPM, see “Installing an
MDPM” on page 5-214.
If a Modem Data Port Module will not be attached to the PCDPM, reconnect the
line cord.
IMPORTANT
If the correct end of the cable is not connected into J2, the
attached device will not function properly. Make sure that the
notched side of the plastic connector on the cable is facing away
from the PCDPM board and the smooth side lies flat against it.
IMPORTANT
If the correct end of the cable is not connected into J1, the
attached device will not function properly. Make sure that the
notched side of the plastic connector on the cable faces away
from the PCDPM board and the smooth side lies flat against it.
