Connecting DSS/BLF Units
Up to 20 DSS/BLF Units can be installed on the system. A single endpoint can be equipped with
up to four units.
Before installing DSS/BLF units on digital endpoints, each endpoint must be equipped with a
PCDPM and an MDPM. For detailed installation instructions, see “Installing an MDPM” on
page 5-214 and “Installing a PCDPM” on page 5-206.
Connecting PCDPM Cables
For OHVA receive capability and to allow an optional DSS/BLF Unit and/or an optional MDPM
to be installed, any 2-line or 6-line display endpoint may be equipped with a PCDPM.
For Executive Display and Standard Display endpoints, use PCDPM part number
550.3018 [PB2585 in Europe]—an external AC transformer is not required.
Or, use part number 550.3014 [PB2548-A]—an external AC transformer is required.
For Professional Display and Associate Display endpoints, use PCDPM part number
550.3018 An external AC transformer is not required.
For the Models 8520 and 8560 endpoints, use PCDPM part number 550.8400. An external
AC transformer is not required.
For details, see PCDPM installation instructions included with the unit.
To Executive, Standard, Professional, or Associate Display
Endpoints
To connect the PCDPM cable:
1. Install the PCDPM for an Executive, Standard, Professional, or Associate Display
endpoint.
For installation diagrams, see Figure 5-80 on page 5-216, Figure 5-82 on page 5-217,
and Figure 5-83 on page 5-218. Also, detailed information is provided in the v1.1
Addendum, part number 580.8002, located on the CD-ROM.
2. Attach one end of the DSS-to-DSS interface cable, part number 813.1519 which is
included with the DSS/BLF Unit, to J2 on the PCDPM. See Figure 5-80 on page 5-216.
The other end of the cable will be attached to the DSS/BLF Unit after it is installed. If
using an older PCDPM, part number 550.3014, plug the main AC transformer into an
available AC power source. Do not use the outlet for the equipment chassis. Newer
PCDPMs do not require an external AC power source.
