6. Install a Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1), part number 580.2020. See “Installing a
Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1)” on page 5-43.
7. Load the software license for the version installed. See “Changing the License” on page
5-97.
8. Restore the full database and voice processor data to the system.
9. Verify results.
10. Perform a full save of database and voice processor data after the upgrade is complete.
Upgrading from CS-5200 to CS-5600
Before performing the following upgrade process, read “Network Environment Requirements”
on page 5-148 and “Upgrade Assumptions” on page 5-149.
Because the Mitel CS-5600 Base Server is actually a Mitel CS-5400 system, the first task in
upgrading a Mitel CS-5200 to a CS-5600 is to convert the CS-5200 to a CS-5400 by installing a
Processor Expansion Card (PEC-1) on the Processor Module (PM-1).
For instructions about installing the PEC-1 on the PM-1, see the preceding upgrade process,
“Upgrading from CS-5200 to CS-5400” on page 5-186.
With the Base Server/Mitel CS-5400 in place, proceed to the following process, “Upgrading
from CS-5200 to CS-5400” next.
Upgrading from CS-5400 to CS-5600
Before performing the following upgrade process and procedures, read “Network Environment
Requirements” on page 5-148 and “Upgrade Assumptions” on page 5-149.
This section describes the parts and materials and the process and applicable procedures
required to upgrade an Mitel CS-5400 system to a CS-5600 system.
Parts and Materials
Upgrading a Mitel CS-5400 system running v1.x, with or without Digital Expansion Interface
(DEI) units, to a Mitel CS-5600 system requires the following items:
• 1 – Processing Server unit, part number 580.5600.
• Applicable licensing.
• Personal computer (PC) with Ethernet/Internet connectivity to the Inter-Tel 5000 platform.
NOTE
Mitel 5000 v2.x software will not prevent the installation of a PS-1 on a Mitel CS-
5200. However, in this configuration system performance will probably be degraded
because call processing will have significantly fewer IP resources to use.
IMPORTANT
When installing v2.0 or later software, the license must match the
system CPU type. A Mitel CS-5200 system requires a CS-5200 license;
a Mitel CS-5400 system requires a CS-5400 license; and, a Mitel CS-
5600 system requires a CS-5600 license.
