Processes and Procedures
For some of the tasks in this procedure, refer to the Mitel 5000 Features and Programming
Guide, part number 580.8006.
To upgrade a Mitel CS-5200 system to a CS-5400:
1. Perform a complete Voice Processor save to one or more thumb drives and a database
save to a PC or other adequate data storage device.
2. Run DB Test on the saved database and verify that no problems exist with the database
structure.
3. Use the DB Conversion tool to convert the database to the correct version and system
type. See “Database Converter Utility” on page 6-22.
4. Run DB Test on the converted database and verify that the database is intact.
5. Configure the system to point to the correct TFTP server and path and perform an
UpgradeAll to upgrade the system software. See “Upgrading to v3.0” on page 5-152.
IMPORTANT
When installing v2.0 or later software, the license must match the
system CPU type. A Mitel CS-5200 system requires a CS-5200 license;
a Mitel CS-5400 system requires a CS-5400 license; and, a Mitel CS-
5600 system requires a CS-5600 license.
NOTE
Partial Voice Processor saves are not permitted when upgrading to v2.x or
later. In v2.x or later DB Programming, the Voice Processor Save option does
not give the user a choice of items to save.
NOTICE
Possible Data Corruption. Do not unplug the chassis when the system is in the
process of upgrading because the Norflash package is migrating at this time.
