Onboard TFTP Server
In a Mitel CS-5600 configuration, the TFTP server resides in the Base Server. The onboard
TFTP server is not intended for uses other than TFTP endpoint firmware downloads.
The TFTP server:
• is not used to upgrade any other Mitel 5000 software.
• does not support Mitel endpoint models 5212/5224 at remote locations/teleworker.
• supports local and remote downloads. Port 69 must be open on the corporate firewall for
endpoints at remote locations.
• might have issues with some SOHO routers because some of these routers do not provide
using custom DHCP options.
• uses ports 69 and 20001 for all transfers to save on socket resources. The server
responds on the same port, 69 or 20001, to which the client request is sent. Port 69 must
be open on the corporate firewall for endpoints at remote locations (Mitel models 5212/
5224 are not supported for teleworker/remote location use). If left at 0, the system will try
port 20001 followed by port 69.
See Table 5-22 for information on TFTP, DHCP and other information relevant to Mitel and Inter-
Tel IP endpoints.
IP Endpoints Supported on the Onboard TFTP Server
The following Mitel and Inter-Tel IP endpoints are supported for downloading firmware from the
onboard TFTP server:
• Mitel Models 5212, 5224, 5330, 5340 (subsequent updates can be initiated through the
Admin Web Session pages)
• Inter-Tel Models 8600, 8620, 8622, 8660, and 8662 (optionally, existing endpoints can be
updated through Admin Web Session pages)
For all other Mitel 5000 supported endpoints, firmware downloads are performed as before v3.0
or as discussed in this document (beginning on page 5-151). Refer also to the instructions that
accompany any endpoint-firmware-only packages that may be released.
