2. Perform a Database backup and a Database save using DB Programming. For details,
“Saving the System and Voice Processor Databases” on page 5-91. Also, back up the
voice mail data, if applicable.
A database backup using DB Programming saves the database to the system. However,
also perform a Database Save to save a copy on your computer or other location you
can access. You can use this copy should the system copy not work or not be available.
If using an EM external voice mail system, refer to the main installation manual for
details.
3. From an Internet Explorer (IE) window, access the Mitel edGe Software Downloads Web
site (www.inter-tel.com/software). In Europe, download the endpoint firmware software
from the appropriate European FTP server.
4. Unzip the files and transfer the endpoint firmware to a location accessible by your TFTP
server, so they are available for the upgrade.
The Mitel 5000 system Administrative Web Session application accesses this TFTP
server information to look for the firmware upgrade files.
The Mitel CS-5200, CS-5400, or CS-5600 system Admin Web Session application
accesses this TFTP server IP address and path information to look for upgrade files.
With this information in DB Programming, you will not need to enter it in the Admin Web
Session upgrade page each time you want to access the TFTP server.
5. In IE, type the URL to access the Administrative Web Session interface on the Mitel
5000 platform you want to upgrade.
6. Type the Mitel 5000 platform user name and password to log on. The default user name
is it5k and the default password is itpassw. The main Web page appears.
7. Click the System Management tab, and then click the System Upgrade link. The
following page appears.
