New Installations for v3.0
This section describes some of the new installation details for v3.0. Also, refer to the main
installation manual for information on installing systems that is not covered here.

• “Considerations” on page 153.
2. Install the MAS hardware and software, as detailed in the documentation provided with
those products.
3. Install the Mitel 5000 v3.0 software as described in “Notices” on page 106. At the end of
this procedure, follow the link to the information that applies to your installation.
4. Install Mitel 5000 hardware as detailed in the main installation manual. If installing DEI
hardware, see page 5-163.
Upgrading to v3.0
These sections provide detailed information for upgrading to the v3.0 release, including
installing any optional hardware or software provided in this release.
NOTICES: Please Read
Please read the following notices before continuing.
Storage
Systems running Basic Voice Mail (BVM) must upgrade the compact flash-type memory card to
either 512MB (part number 841.0274) or 1024MB (part number 841.0273) before upgrading the
system to v3.0.
Trunk Values
Database Programming will notify you, the first time you connect after an upgrade, that the
gains for all trunks have been defaulted. Because the transmit and receive gains are Online
Monitor-only (OLM) fields, this warning only appears if the previous database version had any
non-default gain values.
System Restarts
Any time after v3.0 software is initially installed or upgraded from a prior release, and the
system restarts or needs to be restarted, you must press any button on the front of the Base
Server chassis to acknowledge an LCD prompt should one appear.
See page 5-39 for information on what prompts will appear according to the type of system
update required.
A prompt also appears after a processor module swap. When upgrading through the Web
interface, the LCD prompt does not appear. Also, Web page connections are not available
during the time the system is performing this operation. Do not interrupt any system operations
during a system restart.
