NOTICE
System Reset and Lost System Functionality.
Mitel strongly recommends against downgrading a software license. Four ways that the
system can downgrade the software license include:
Uploading a Mitel CS-5400 software license to a Mitel CS-5200 system.
Uploading a software license where the number of online Advanced IP endpoints is
greater than the new license Advanced IP endpoint license count.
Uploading a software license where the number of online IP gateway trunks is greater
than the new license IP gateway trunk license count.
Uploading a software license where the number of online T1/E1/PRI modules is greater
than the new license PRI license count. Before accepting the new software license,
Database (DB) Programming displays where the license field in question is less than the
existing license field. In both of these instances, DB Programming warns that the system
will reset.
In the first scenario (downgrading from a Mitel CS-5400 to a Mitel CS-5200), DB Program-
ming allows the downgrade to occur only if the number of IP endpoints, number of IP net-
working and number of T.38 Fax calls are valid for a Mitel CS-5200 system.
When uploading a new software license, upload the latest generated .isl license file to
ensure that the software license does not downgrade.
If a system has continuous license key failures, Alarm 132 is posted on all administrator
endpoints. After the system successfully recognizes the license key, upon the next reset,
the system checks for a valid software license.
If the license key is functional but the system does not have a software license, the system
posts alarm 125 every 5 minutes, then resets after 4 hours.
