The SLA is supported with two Western Electric to BT converters (part number C74) for use
when the attached devices are near the SLA. For longer range connections (up to 4.5 Km), an
additional Krone block is required. This is connected to the SLA using a standard line cord—
part number C27—and line jack unit (LJU).
Where exposed OPX cabling is used, also use BT14A/1 of BT21A surge arrestors on the OPX
lines, and ensure the Krone field is earthed. Make the LJU at the far end of the cable a line
master. This entire setup might be part of the main MDF or situated remotely, subject to
chassis-to-SLA cable restrictions.
