MITEL CS-5600 PROCESSING SERVER (PS-1)
This section identifies the parts, processes, and procedures required for installing the Mitel CS-
5600 Processing Server (PS-1), part number 580.5600. For processes and procedures required
to upgrade your current system, see “Upgrading System Software to Version 3.0” on page 5-
148.
Processing Server (PS-1) Description
The PS-1 is a Linux server that connects through a local area network (LAN) to the Mitel CS-
5600 Base Server and provides call processing power for the expanded-capacity system. For a
functional description, see “Processing Server Characteristics” on page 4-32. For technical
descriptions see the Specifications chapter and “Network Environment Requirements” on
page 5-148.
By providing additional call processing power, the PS-1 allows the Mitel 5000 platform to
support more endpoints than the Mitel CS-5200 or CS-5400 chassis in stand-alone mode. For
capacity details, see “System Endpoint Capacities” on page 4-19.
Licensing
Adding the PS-1 to the Mitel 5000 platform requires, at a minimum, the following licensing:
Mitel 5000 v2.0, part number 840.0622
Mitel CS-5600 License Base, part number 840.0624
Additional licensing is required if upgrading a system from an earlier hardware version, if using
IP Networking, and/or adding certain endpoints. For details of required licensing, see “Licensing
and Mitel CS-5600 Upgrades” on page 3-16.
Essential PS-1 BIOS Settings
The Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) settings of the PS-1 have been customized to control
specifically the way Mitel CS-5600 software interacts with system hardware. Because the
default BIOS settings have been modified to allow the system to operate, the BIOS settings
must remain as they came from the factory.
IMPORTANT
When installing v2.0 software, the license must match the system CPU
type. A Mitel CS-5200 system requires a CS-5200 license; a Mitel CS-
5400 system requires a CS-5400 license; and, a Mitel CS-5600 system
requires a CS-5600 license.
NOTICE
Incorrect or Defaulted BIOS Settings Will Make System Inoperable. If for any reason the
BIOS settings of the PS-1 are defaulted or changed from the way they were shipped from the
factory, contact Mitel Product Support to receive instructions for correctly reprogramming the
BIOS.
