Gathering Optional Equipment

MITEL 5000 BASE SERVER CHASSIS
The following sections provide procedures for installing the Mitel CS-5200/5400/5600 Base
Server chassis. The procedures appear in the order they should be performed at a new
installation. Upgrade procedures and procedures for installing the Processing Server (PS-1),
Digital Expansion Interface (DEI), expansion modules, and optional equipment appear in
separate sections.
Gathering Optional Equipment
Keep the following information in mind when gathering optional equipment, in preparation for
installing a system:
External voice mail systems (Enterprise
®
Messaging or Voice Processing Unit) and
applications software for integrated Voice Processing (voice mail, Automated Attendant,
Hunt Group Announcement and Hunt Group Overflow, optional Fax-On-Demand, SMDR
storage, etc.).
CT Gateway for using System OAI applications on a network.
Headsets (Electret-compatible) for endpoints and handset amplifiers for single line
endpoints.
External music source.
External paging speakers and amplifier(s). See the notice on page 5-193.
Electronic equipment (alarms, lights, etc.) to connect to the night transfer relay.
External voice mail equipment. See page 4-65.
Fax machine. See page 4-65.
Industry-standard, one-pair (two-conductor) twisted cable to run from the MDF to all
station instruments and four-conductor modular jack [line jack unit] assemblies for all
station instruments, including IP and digital endpoints, single line DTMF endpoints, IP
SLAs, SLAs, and playback devices.
Grounding terminal and 10AWG (diameter 6mm) wire for grounding the chassis, Single-
Line Adapters, etc.
Digital endpoint PCDPMs for using Off-Hook Voice Announce (OHVA) features and for
installing an MDPM. The serial port interface does not support serial data communication.
Digital endpoint MDPMs for connecting single line endpoints.
Optional wall-mount kits for the Mitel CS-5x00/DEI chassis. For details, see Table 7-5 on
page 7-4. One wall-mount kit allows you to mount the chassis flat against the MDF and the
other kit from the Mitel CommSource
®
division provides a rack mount unit that can be wall-
mounted on the MDF.
