System Resource Notes
1. The MiCollab Client and MiContact Center Office servers can place a monitor for every
device on the system, including TDM devices and trunks. Note that SAC sets will have an
additional monitor related to the phone device.
2. The total number of MiTAI monitors and HCI sockets available in the system is limited, and
since several different applications may be using these monitors, it is easy to exceed the
maximum allowable. This maximum number should be looked at carefully for all large
systems but especially if resilient sets are involved. Keep in mind that if multiple applications
put monitors on one set, then there is only one monitor applied for the set, and that can
reduce the impact on the system somewhat. However, multiple applications and common
monitors does not reduce the number of required HCI sockets.
3. The 5230, 5235, 5240, 53xx, and Navigator sets use a second IP socket for Switch Appli-
cations Communications (SAC). This connection provides the key updates and application
connection for these phones and is independent from the call control connection via MiNET.
The SAC component connects to MiTAI via a single socket and effectively acts as an internal
application server. This IP connection doubles the number of IP sockets used by these
sets, and may restrict the total number of these sets per system in order to allow enough
sockets for other sets and applications.
Worked Example
The following is a worked example to calculate the number of sockets and monitors that will
be needed for an installation that consists of a resilient system with fixed and hot-desk users
plus a mix of both MiCollab Client and also UC Express on a number of end devices.
The following picture highlights the configuration. The main site is shown pictorially and it is
assumed that the backup is a copy from another controller.
