IP Device license
In MCD 4.0, an IP device license is needed for every IP phone that is, or could be, registered
with the MiVoice Business system. Resiliency requires IP device licenses, but not
necessarily IP user licenses, as these are registered on another system.
In MCD 4.1 and later, the IP device license is replaced with the IP user license. The IP user
license now applies to both users and devices.
SIP Trunks license
A SIP license is needed for every SIP trunk connected to the MiVoice Business system.
This includes SIP trunks to a SIP Trunk Service Provider, as well as SIP trunks to other
SIP devices, such as SIP gateways or applications, through the SIP protocol over the IP
network.
SIP User license
In MCD 4.0, a SIP user license is needed for every SIP phone that is, or could be, registered
with the MCD.
In MCD 4.1 and later, the SIP user license is replaced with the IP user license. The IP user
license now applies to both users and devices.
The maximum number of SIP users varies by controller type as follows:
-CX/CXi - 100
- MXe Standard - 300
- LX and MXe Expanded - 1000
- MXe Server - 3000
- AX Controller – 100
Resilient SIP user license
In MCD 4.0, resilient SIP devices require a SIP user license at both the primary and
secondary controllers.
In MCD 4.1 and later, the SIP user license is replaced with the IP user license. IP user
licenses (including SIP) are no longer required on secondary (resilient) controllers.
Hot Desk User and External Hot Desk User license
External Hot Desking is an extension of the system’s hot desking capabilities. The hot desk
function consumes a user license in the system. This is also true when External Hot Desking
is employed. An External Hot Desk User (EHDU) License is required to extend the hot
desking function to an external device. This will also use an IP user license, even if there
is no IP phone involved, since a device number must still be allocated. The maximum
number of available “External Hot Desk User Licenses” will be equal to 100% of supported
IP users if these are the users’ only sets, but if the users have both internal desk sets and
EHD sets then the number of users supported will be reduced by one half.
