iControl Edge
Installation and Setup Guide
41
4. Restore the previous network settings on the PC or laptop that were used to configure the
Application Server (see "Preparing a PC for Configuring the Application Server", on
page 22).
5. Verify that the Application Server is available on your network. From a workstation on the
same subnet, open a browser window and type the IP address of the newly-configured
Application Server. You should see the iControl Startup page.
Alternatively, you can use the
ping command. Open the DOS command line window on the
client PC or laptop (on the Start menu, click Run), and then type the following:
pingAAA.BBB.CCC.DDD
where AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD is the Application Server’s new IP address. A small window should
briefly appear with a message similar to the following:
ReplyfromAAA.BBB.CCC.DDD:bytes=32time<1msTTL=62
Task 5: Installing & Configuring EdgeVision Devices
EdgeVision allows you to encode streams for up to four set-top boxes and redirect them to
several computers (or third-party devices). EdgeVision can also generate multicast Transport
streams, eliminating the limit to the number of devices that can receives streams.
The EdgeVision device accepts the following input types:
• Video: HDMI 1.1, Component, Composite
• Audio: Stereo Analog, S/PDIF, HDMI 1.1
The EdgeVision device is a one RU-high standalone device that you can mount in a 19in rack
(for up to two channel inputs).
Note: If this is a workstation that will be used to operate iControl Edge, make sure
that the Java Runtime Environment is installed (see "Installing Java", on page 30).
IMPORTANT: Perform this task only if you intend to use an EdgeVision INSTEAD OF at least
one of the following:
• GC-100 network adaptor
•Densité probes
• Allégro-1 video/audio streamer
EdgeVision Installation Workflow
1. Connect the EdgeVision device to the input feeds and the network or the PC that you will
use to configure it (see "Connecting the Cables to the EdgeVision Device", on page 42).
2.
Update the EdgeVision software, if required (see page 43).
3.
Launch EdgeVision Admin (see page 44).
4.
Define your network parameters (see page 46).
5.
Submit the IP addresses of all your EdgeVision devices to the iControl Lookup Locations lists
(see page 48)
