iControl Edge
Installation and Setup Guide

Installation and Network Requirements
Network Capacity
We recommend that you install all iControl Edge devices, as well as any associated equipment,
on a dedicated LAN. The quality of service of your iControl Edge system (including streaming
bit rate, frame rate, and the number of concurrent users possible) is directly related to the
capacity of your network.
Network Clients
Users can access the iControl Edge Application Server using a Web browser (Microsoft Internet
Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) on a client PC or laptop running Windows®. When a user logs on
and launches an iControl module (e.g. iC Web), the software is automatically downloaded from
the Application Server and runs on the client PC or laptop.
Security
iControl Edge can be incorporated into your existing security infrastructure. A qualified system
administrator should verify that the setup follows your organization’s security standards.
Network Configuration
Each device in your iControl Edge system arrives pre-configured with default IP address, subnet
mask, and gateway address. Instructions for changing these settings to conform to your
network are provided further on in this document.
Table 2-1, below, provides an overview of the default settings. Table 2-2 can be used as a
worksheet for recording your new network settings.
IMPORTANT: On the client PC or laptop, the firewall must be disabled. Only one network inter-
face card (NIC) should be enabled. It is recommended to use a wired network
connection and disable any wireless adapter.
Table 2-1:
Device Software version
Application Server 4.13 or later
Allégro-1 Analog (if applicable) 3.00 or later
EdgeVision (if applicable) 1.00 or later
Note: iControl Edge devices may be shipped with a sticker, usually located on the
top of the enclosure, identifying the default network settings.
