Inhalation
Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If not
breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a physician
immediately.
Ingestion
Do not induce vomiting. If drowsy or unconscious, do not give anything by mouth; place
individual on the left side with head down. Call a physician or Poison Control Center.
Most important symptoms and effects
Symptoms
May cause mild eye irritation. May cause respiratory irritation. Toxic if inhaled. Vapors may
cause irritation to nose, throat, and respiratory tract. High vapor concentrations may cause
central nervous system depression which can lead to dizziness, weakness and headache.
Aspiration may occur during swallowing or vomiting and cause lung damage. Ingestion may
cause nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and headache.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Notes to Physician
Treat symptomatically.
5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Suitable Extinguishing Media
In case of fire, use carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder or appropriate foam.
Unsuitable Extinguishing Media
Not determined.
Specific Hazards Arising from the Chemical
Flammable liquid and vapor. Vapors are heavier than air and may accumulate in low areas or areas inadequately ventilated.
Vapors may also travel along the ground to be ignited at location distant from handling site; flashback of flame to handling site may
occur. Never use welding or cutting torch on or near drum (even empty), because product (even just residue) can ignite
explosively.
Hazardous Combustion Products Carbon monoxide. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Hydrocarbons.
Sensitivity to Static Discharge
Take precautionary measures against static discharge.
Protective equipment and precautions for firefighters
As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full
protective gear.
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Personal Precautions
Use personal protective equipment as required.
For Emergency Responders
Remove all sources of ignition.
Environmental Precautions
Prevent from entering into soil, ditches, sewers, waterways and/or groundwater. See
Section 12, Ecological Information. See Section 13: DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Methods for Containment
Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.
Methods for Clean-Up
Collect any spills with absorbent material such as vermiculite, place collected material in a
polyethylene lined metal container and seal. Clean up residue with water.
