9.3 Installing a DIMM (Dual In-Line Memory Module)
This printer is shipped with 16 MB of memory. However, printer memory
can be expanded to a maximum of 144 MB by installing commercially
available PC/100-compatible SDRAM DIMMs (64 MB or 128 MB).
CAUTION
Your DIMM could be destroyed!
➜ DIMMs are very sensitive. Handling them improperly can damage
them and render them unusable.
➜ Before you unpack a DIMM, touch a metal part of the printer to dis-
charge the static electricity from you.
➜ Hold the DIMM only by the edges.
➜ Avoid touching the DIMM connections.
➜ Always place the DIMM on an anti-static mat when working with it.
➜ Do not touch any printed circuit boards in the printer.
WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
The printer contains electrical parts.
➜ Always turn the printer off and unplug it before installing a DIMM.
➜ When installing a DIMM, follow the instructions exactly.
➜ Remove only the printer covers which are specifically referred to in the
step-by-step instructions.

Turn the printer off and disconnect the power cord and the interface
cable from the printer.
