Making the Connection
▲ Caution: If you’re connecting the printer to a single PC via the parallel
interface, turn off both systems first.
1 Connect the PC and the printer using a parallel cable.
a Connect the 25-pin end of the cable to the PC’s parallel
port.
b Tighten the screws.
c Attach the 36-pin end of the cable to the printer’s parallel
port (it’s labeled “PARALLEL”).
d Close the clips.
2 Turn on both the printer and the PC.
A start-up page should print. If it doesn’t, see the “Printer Problem
Checklist” in chapter 9, “Troubleshooting Printer Problems” of the
Operation guide.
3 Test communication between the printer and the PC.
You can do this by sending a file from one of your applications, or
you can see “Testing Communication” in chapter 9, “Trouble-
shooting Printer Problems” of the
Operation guide.
