Introduction
ImageServer
The QMS ImageServer Option is a collection of printer emulations
and printer system code designed to provide an interface between
document imaging applications and QMS Crown print systems. It
enables the QMS 4060 Print System to print images at or near the
rated engine speed and eliminates the need for a PC dedicated to
rasterizing images.
Interfaces
Your QMS 4060 Print System has one I/O slot to support an optional
network, LocalTalk, or serial interface:
n Network Interfaces
— A second CrownNet Ethernet interface or a Token-Ring inter-
face both allow you to run multiple protocols.
User Benefit—Network interfaces provide flexibility and fast
data transfer in complex network environments.
— A DECnet-TCP/IP interface allows your printer to connect
directly to DECnet or TCP/IP networks.
User Benefit—This network inteface provides functionality
for two of the most common network environments.
n LocalTalk Interface
— A LocalTalk interface allows your printer to connect directly to
a single Macintosh or to a LocalTalk network.
User Benefit—Any Macintosh not on an Ethernet (EtherTalk)
network can be connected directly to the printer.
nn Serial Interface
— A serial interface allows your printer to connect directly to a
single RS-232C port.
User Benefit—This interface provides additional functionality
by allowing you to connect the printer to a single PC.
